An apprenticeship project created by ArcelorMittal Galati has been given a top honour, winning the „Generation Z” Special Award at the 2017 „HR Club” National Competition. The event, held recently in Bucharest, gathered 300 human resources specialists from 35 companies. 65 HR projects competed for the contest.
„The Apprenticeship School is one of our main human resources ambitions. Our organization has been continuously transforming since 2009, new technologies and a new organization are being implemented, and so the profile of our workforce will change in the coming years. We need young, skilled workers, capable of understanding the steel industry and its safety philosophy”, said Mihaela Craciun, Human Resources Director of ArcelorMittal Galati.
Based on the Appreniceship School, now in its third intake, ArcelorMittal Galati is training up its future workers over a period of 18 months. More than 100 apprentices are now in intensive training in the workplace.
„We hope to retain as many as possible of the current apprentices”, said Bruno Ribo, chief executive officer of ArcelorMittal Galati.
A new intake of the Apprenticeship School will be welcomed in the autumn of 2017, aiming to train and hire a further 100 workers.
